Biography
Siegfried Stohr, born in Rimini in 1952, started in the Italian Formula Italia class in 1976 and finished the championship as runner-up. He won the series in 1977, then took the Italian Formula Three title in 1978 in a Chevron. In 1979 he moved up to Formula Two, finishing second at Vallelunga and Pau in a Chevron before switching to a March, with less success. In 1980 he drove a Toleman for Alan Docking Racing, won a race at Enna and finished fourth in the championship.
His only Formula One season came in 1981 with Arrows, alongside Riccardo Patrese. He was entered in 13 races but started 9 of them, and he scored no championship points. At the Belgian Grand Prix he was caught up in an accident at the start that also involved one of Patrese's mechanics. After crashing in qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix, he ended his Formula One career before the season was over.
In 1989 he made a short comeback in the Italian Superturismo Championship in a BMW M3. During the 1990s he wrote columns for the weekly magazine Autosprint.
