Visiting the site

The site runs at Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) on Cloudflare Workers. Every request passes through the Cloudflare network. This technically involves: your IP address, date and time, the address requested, the page you came from, details about your browser and operating system, your browser's language setting and the approximate country that Cloudflare derives from the IP address.

We use this data only to deliver the site, protect it from attacks and find errors. Cloudflare keeps the site's logs for no more than 7 days. The statistics we see at Cloudflare (such as the number of requests and countries) are aggregated and do not allow conclusions about individuals. We do not build profiles and do not combine the data with other data.

We read your browser's language setting on your first visit to send you to the right language. We do not store it.

Cloudflare processes the data on our behalf, including in the USA. Cloudflare is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, and Cloudflare's data processing agreement applies. The legal basis under the GDPR is our legitimate interest in a secure, working site (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Cookies

If you change the language at the top, your browser stores the cookie "sprache". It contains only the language code (de, en or es) and lasts one year. It makes the site open in your chosen language on your next visit. Because you trigger it with your own choice and it serves only that purpose, no consent is needed. You can delete it in your browser at any time.

The site sets no other cookies.

Session times are converted to your time inside your browser. Your time zone is not sent to us.

Database

Statistics and texts are stored in a database at Supabase, Inc. (USA), on servers in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. The database holds no data about readers, and your browser does not connect to it. The site only queries it from the server.

Email

When you write to us, Cloudflare receives the email (Cloudflare Email Routing) and forwards it to the operator's mailbox. We process your address, your name and the content of the email to reply and handle your request, such as a correction, a reply or a notice about rights. Afterwards we delete the email unless we need to keep it as evidence. The legal basis under the GDPR is our legitimate interest in answering requests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Links, fonts and weather

Headlines and other links lead to other sites. Only when you click does your browser connect to that site, and from then on its privacy policy applies. The other site only learns from us that you came from Hotlap Delta, not from which page.

Fonts are loaded from our own server, not from Google or other providers. Weather data is fetched by our server from MET Norway, and nothing about you is sent.

We currently do not embed videos, social media posts or maps from other providers. If we add anything like that, it will only load after you click, and we will update this policy first.

Your rights

You can ask what data we process about you and request that it be corrected, deleted or restricted. You can object to the processing and receive data you gave us in a common format. Write to the address above.

You can also complain to a supervisory authority: in Switzerland to the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), in the EU to the data protection authority of your country.

Changes

If anything changes in how the site processes data, we update this policy first. The version shown here applies.
