A crash means a race retirement from an accident, collision or spin. Starts exclude non-qualifications, non-starts and exclusions.History
Anderstorp Raceway is in Anderstorp, in Gislaved Municipality, Sweden, and was formerly called Scandinavian Raceway. The circuit was built on marshland in 1968. Its features include the long Flight Straight, which doubles as a runway for small aircraft. Several banked corners make car set-up a compromise for engineers, and the pit lane is unusually placed about halfway round the lap.
In the Formula One World Championship, Anderstorp staged the Swedish Grand Prix from 1973 to 1978. There were six races, and the circuit is the only Nordic host of a world championship round. Denny Hulme won in 1973 for McLaren. Jody Scheckter won for Tyrrell in 1974 and 1976, and Niki Lauda won for Ferrari in 1975 and for Brabham in 1978. In 1977 Jacques Laffite won for Ligier. The six-wheeled Tyrrell P34 and the Brabham fan car each scored their only win here.
The layout was changed several times over the years. Before the final Grand Prix in 1978, the penultimate Norra corner was slowed by giving it a smaller radius. The following straight was also slightly reoriented, and the lap grew from 4.018 to 4.031 kilometres.
Ronnie Peterson and Gunnar Nilsson died during the 1978 season. Public support for the Grand Prix then faded and the event came to an end. Other racing continued at the circuit, including a round of the World Touring Car Championship in 2007.
