Tony
Trimmer
Biography
Tony Trimmer was born in Maidenhead, Berkshire, on 24 January 1943. In 1970 the British driver won the British Formula Three Championship and the E.R. Hall Trophy. That year he also won the Formula Three race at Monaco in a Brabham BT28, and in 1972 he finished second there behind Patrick Depailler.
Trimmer was entered in six Formula One World Championship Grands Prix but never started one. In 1975 and 1976 he failed to qualify in all four attempts for Maki. At the 1977 British Grand Prix his Surtees TS19 missed pre-qualifying, and in 1978 his McLaren M23, run by the Melchester Racing Team, failed to qualify. That same year he took third place in the BRDC International Trophy at Silverstone, a non-championship race, and won the British Aurora F1 Championship. In 1973 he also drove the Connew in its final race, by then in Formula 5000 specification. A rear damper failure sent the car into a barrier at Brands Hatch.
