Biography

Ricardo Rosset was born in São Paulo in 1968. After the Formula Opel Euroseries, he raced in the 1993 British Formula 3 Championship for Alan Docking Racing, finishing joint sixth in the standings with Pedro de la Rosa. He moved to AJS in 1994, finished fifth and took his first Formula 3 win at Snetterton. In 1995 he entered International Formula 3000 with Super Nova Racing, won two races, including his first in the series, and finished runner-up to his team-mate Vincenzo Sospiri.

Rosset made his Formula One debut at the 1996 Australian Grand Prix with Footwork, alongside Jos Verstappen, and started all 16 races that season. In 1997 he was due to drive for Lola next to Sospiri, but failed to qualify at the Australian Grand Prix. The team then withdrew from Formula One, leaving Rosset without a drive for the rest of the year.

In 1998 he drove for Tyrrell alongside Toranosuke Takagi. He finished eighth in Canada, the team's best result that season. On six occasions he did not make the race, among them Monaco, Spain and Japan. Japan was Tyrrell's final race and the end of Rosset's Formula One career. In total he made 26 starts without scoring a championship point.

After leaving Formula One, Rosset initially gave up racing altogether. He returned in 2008 in the Brazilian GT3 Championship, sharing a Ford GT with Walter Salles. The pair won four races and finished second overall. Rosset went on to win the Porsche GT3 Cup Brasil in 2010, 2013 and 2015.
