Biography
Karl-Günther Bechem was born in Hagen on 21 December 1921. He began in sports car racing and in 1952 entered the German Grand Prix in Formula Two. He drove a BMW under the pseudonym Bernhard Nacke, retired from the race and scored no championship points.
In 1953 he continued in Formula Two with an AFM-BMW, first at the AVUS and then in the German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring. Again he did not finish. That left him with two World Championship starts. In sports car racing he also drove for the Borgward team.
In 1954 he had a heavy crash in the Carrera Panamericana, and he did not race again at this level afterwards. Bechem died on 3 May 2011.
