Biography

Jordan King, born in 1994, began in karting and moved into single-seater racing at the end of 2010. That same year he contested four Formula Palmer Audi races at Silverstone and finished on the podium. In 2011 he raced in British Formula Renault and also took part in the FIA Formula Two Championship. He was the youngest driver to compete in the modern era of that series. In 2013 he won the British Formula 3 championship.

In GP2 he drove for Racing Engineering in 2015 and finished twelfth overall. He stayed with the team the following year, won two races and took seventh place in the standings. In 2017 he moved to MP Motorsport, where he also raced again in 2019. In Formula 2 he set track records at Spa-Francorchamps and Monza in 2017. In 2019 he scored two podiums, third in the feature race at Baku and second in the sprint race at Monza, and ended the year ninth in the standings. He missed the Monaco round because of his entry in the Indianapolis 500.

In Formula One, King was a development driver for Manor in 2015 and 2016. He drove for the team in free practice at the 2016 United States Grand Prix, but he never started a race. In 2020 he took on the role of development driver at the Alpine F1 Team.

In the IndyCar Series, King drove for Ed Carpenter Racing in 2018, taking the eleven road and street course races while Ed Carpenter started the ovals. On his debut at St. Petersburg he set a qualifying track record, reached the Fast 6 and led the race on only the fifth lap. In 2019 he made his Indianapolis 500 debut with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing, his first oval race, and qualified 26th. That year he also won the LMP2 class in the World Endurance Championship at the 1000 Miles of Sebring, his first endurance race, for Jackie Chan DC Racing x Jota, and he contested the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time in June. In Formula E he tested for Mahindra and Dragon Racing, and he made his debut for Mahindra at the 2024 Berlin ePrix, standing in for Nyck de Vries.
