Biography
Gregor Foitek, born in Zurich on 27 March 1965, is a former Swiss racing driver. In 1986 he won the Swiss Formula 3 Championship. He made his Formula One debut at the 1989 Brazilian Grand Prix with EuroBrun. That was the only race at which he reached the main qualifying session with EuroBrun, and he failed to qualify there. At the Spanish Grand Prix he replaced Christian Danner at Rial. After a heavy crash caused by a broken rear wing, he left the team. He did not start a single race in 1989.
In 1990 he first filled in for Brabham in the opening two races until David Brabham moved up, and he made his first start at Phoenix. He then replaced Stefan Johansson at Onyx and was classified seventh at Monaco. Onyx folded after the Hungarian Grand Prix. In total Foitek had 22 entries and 7 starts, without scoring a championship point. In 1992 he contested two CART races for Foyt, and both ended with mechanical failures.
