Biography
Cesare Perdisa was born in Bologna in 1932. He made his Formula One World Championship debut at the 1955 Monaco Grand Prix, finishing third in a Maserati that he shared with Jean Behra. He started two races that year and ended the season 18th in the championship. In 1956 he stayed with Maserati, started four of his five entries and finished the season 16th. He reached the podium again at the Belgian Grand Prix, sharing the car with Stirling Moss. In 1957 he contested the Argentine Grand Prix for Ferrari, where Wolfgang von Trips and Peter Collins each took a turn in his car and the trio came home sixth. In total he had eight entries and seven starts.
In March 1957 his friend and teammate Eugenio Castellotti died during testing. Perdisa withdrew his entry for the 12 Hours of Sebring and brought his racing career to an end. He later worked as an agricultural journalist and, together with his brother Sergio, edited the magazine Terra e Vita. He died in 1998.
