Biography
Alex Soler-Roig was born in Barcelona in 1932. He began on motorcycles before moving to rallying with Fiat and Porsche, and he took his first wins in 1958, among them the Rally Catalunya. He later raced sports cars too, driving a Porsche at the 1968 24 Hours of Le Mans and finishing fourth in the 1969 12 Hours of Sebring.
In Formula One he was entered ten times but started only six races, and he scored no championship points. In 1970 he drove for Lotus, failing to qualify in Spain and France and being unable to start in Belgium. For March in 1971 he started four races without finishing any of them. In 1972 he made two starts for BRM. He then switched his focus to the European Touring Car Championship with Ford, winning the 24 Hours of Spa and the 24 Hours of Paul Ricard among other races. He retired from racing at the end of 1972.
