Biography
Torsten Palm was born in Kristinehamn on 23 July 1947. His elder brother Gunnar Palm was a rally co-driver, and Torsten also competed as one: in 1967 he finished second in the Swedish Rally alongside Simo Lampinen. He made his Formula 3 debut in 1969, finishing runner-up to Ronnie Peterson in the Swedish Championship that year, and he won the title in 1970 and 1971. In 1973 he took third place in a Surtees at Karlskoga, with Peterson fifth.
Palm entered Formula 1 with Hesketh in 1975. He failed to qualify at Monaco, but in Anderstorp he made the grid and finished tenth. It remained his only start in the World Championship.
