Biography
Ricardo Héctor Zunino was born in San Juan, Argentina, on 13 April 1949. At home he twice won the Turismo Nacional title with Fiat, and in Europe he raced in the British Formula One Championship. He was at the 1979 Canadian Grand Prix as a spectator when Niki Lauda abruptly left Brabham and Formula One. Zunino had tested for the team shortly beforehand, and he was given the vacant seat.
He started two races for Brabham in 1979 and six in 1980, before Héctor Rebaque replaced him after the French Grand Prix that year. In 1981 Zunino drove for Tyrrell and started two races. In total he made ten World Championship starts.
