Piero
Dusio
Biography
Piero Dusio was born in 1899 in Scurzolengo, in Piedmont. He began as a footballer, making three appearances for Juventus in 1921-22, and later served as the club's president from 1942 to 1948. His racing career started at the Mille Miglia in 1929. In 1937 he won his class in a Siata 500. He founded Scuderia Torino in 1936 and in the same year finished sixth in the Italian Grand Prix, driving a Maserati 6C-34.
In 1944, towards the end of the Second World War, Dusio turned his attention to his racing team. He had a racing car developed and founded the company that later became known as Cisitalia. In 1946 he won the Coppa Brezzi, in which three Cisitalia D46s led the field. He was entered for the 1952 Italian Grand Prix, a round of the Formula One World Championship, with a Cisitalia D46. Engine problems meant he set no time in practice and he did not start the race. Dusio died in Buenos Aires in 1975.
