Phil
Cade
Biography
Phil Cade was born on 12 June 1916 in Charles City, Iowa, and raced as an amateur. He owned a Maserati 250F and a Maserati V8RI, and drove both cars himself.
His only appearance in the Formula One World Championship came at the 1959 United States Grand Prix. Cade entered his own Maserati 250F, but never made the start because the engine in his car failed. His time in the championship therefore consisted of a single entry and no race starts.
He kept racing regularly until 1962. He held on to the 250F until 1988, and he still took the V8RI out for the occasional race into the 1990s. Phil Cade died on 28 August 2001 in Winchester, Massachusetts.
