Biography
Paul Belmondo was born in Boulogne-Billancourt in 1963. In 1982 he trained at the Winfield Racing School, finished as its top student and received the Volant Elf scholarship. Until 1987 he raced in Formula 3 and Formula 3000, but never finished in the top ten of either championship.
In 1992 he drove for March in Formula One. Of his eleven entries that year, five led to a start, and he finished ninth in the Hungarian Grand Prix. In 1994 he drove for Pacific, where he started only two of 16 entries and was usually behind team-mate Bertrand Gachot. In total he started seven Formula One races. After that he focused on GT racing, at the wheel of a Chrysler Viper GTS-R. His own team, Paul Belmondo Racing, competed in the FIA GT Championship and the Le Mans Endurance Series before it closed in 2007.
