Otto
Stuppacher
Biography
Otto Stuppacher was born in Vienna on 3 March 1947 and died in 2001. He raced in hill-climbs and sports cars before reaching Formula One in 1976 with the ÖASC Racing Team, driving a Tyrrell 007. He was entered for three World Championship rounds but never started a race. At the Italian Grand Prix he missed qualifying by a wide margin. He was later moved up the order when three other drivers had their times disallowed over fuel irregularities, but he had already left the circuit and could not get back in time. He also failed to qualify in Canada and at the United States Grand Prix East, where he was more than 27 seconds slower than James Hunt's pole time.
He and team-mate Karl Oppitzhauser were refused entry to the 1976 Austrian Grand Prix. It is unclear how much racing he did after 1976.
