Biography
Nanni Galli, whose full name was Giovanni Giuseppe Gilberto Galli, was born in Bologna in 1940. He began in endurance racing: in 1968 he won the race at Mugello and finished second in the Targa Florio alongside Ignazio Giunti. At the 24 Hours of Le Mans that year he took fourth place with Giunti in an Alfa Romeo, and in 1969 he was seventh with Robin Widdows in a Matra.
In Formula One, Galli was entered once for McLaren in 1970 but did not start. He drove for March in 1971, for Ferrari and Tecno in 1972, and for Iso-Marlboro in 1973. He made 17 starts in total and scored no championship points. At the 1972 French Grand Prix he qualified his Ferrari 20th and finished 13th. That same year he was third for Tecno in a non-championship race at Vallelunga. He took part in the Le Mans Classic in 2014. Galli died in Prato in 2019.
