Masami
Kuwashima
Biography
Masami Kuwashima was born in Kumagaya, Japan, on 14 September 1950. His only Formula One entry was the 1976 Japanese Grand Prix. He had been due to drive a Brabham BT44 for the RAM team, but that car was not available, so he ended up in a Wolf-Williams FW05.
In practice he set a 1:17.90 on Friday morning and a slower 1:19.27 in the afternoon. At the end of Friday he stood 25th of the 26 entries. Hans Binder took over the car for the third qualifying session and the race, so Kuwashima did not start.
He went back to Japanese Formula 2000 and Formula Two, and ended his single-seater career in 1979. In the early 2000s he worked as a team director in the Japanese GT Championship, and he also worked as a stunt driver in film and television.
