Biography
Lance Reventlow was born in London in 1936 and later chose American citizenship. He began racing in the United States in the mid-1950s and switched to a Cooper in 1956. He then set up his own company in Venice, California, which built Chevrolet-powered racing cars under the name Scarab. His driver Chuck Daigh won the 1958 Riverside Grand Prix in a Scarab.
In the Formula One World Championship, Reventlow was entered four times in 1960 with cars from Cooper and Scarab but started only one race. The Scarab team moved its work to Britain but achieved little against the new rear-engined cars. In 1962 Reventlow closed the operation and gave up racing altogether. He died in 1972 as a passenger in a plane crash.
