Biography
Jud Larson was born on 21 January 1923 in Grand Prairie, Texas. He raced in the USAC Championship Car series in the 1956 to 1959 seasons and again in 1964 and 1965, making 53 starts with 38 top-ten finishes and 7 wins. In 1992 he was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame.
From 1950 to 1960 the Indianapolis 500 counted towards the Formula One World Championship. Larson started it in 1958 for Watson and in 1959 for Kurtis Kraft. These two races were his only World Championship starts, and he scored no points. He was therefore an Indy 500 driver who appears in the championship records through that race alone. Larson died on 11 June 1966 after a crash in a sprint car race at Reading Fairgrounds Speedway in Pennsylvania.
