Biography
John Malcolm Taylor, a racing driver from England, was born in Anstey on 23 March 1933. He made his Formula One debut on 11 July 1964 in the British Grand Prix at Brands Hatch, driving a Cooper. He finished fourteenth, 24 laps behind, after a gearbox problem forced a long pit stop. He did not enter the World Championship in 1965, but carried on racing in non-championship events.
In 1966 he returned to Formula One in a Brabham-BRM run by the privateer David Bridges. He scored his only championship point in the French Grand Prix at Reims and took eighth place at both Brands Hatch and Zandvoort. He was 17th in the 1966 World Championship standings. In the German Grand Prix at the Nürburgring his car collided on the opening lap with the Formula Two Matra of Jacky Ickx, and he died from the consequences of the accident on 8 September 1966. He started five World Championship races in total.
