Biography
Jan Flinterman was born in The Hague on 2 October 1919. He was a pilot in the Dutch Royal Air Force during the Second World War, and a racing driver.
His only Formula One World Championship race was the 1952 Dutch Grand Prix on 17 August, driving a Maserati. When his own car retired with a rear axle failure, he took over the car of his team-mate Chico Landi and brought it home in ninth place, which earned no points. He and Dries van der Lof were the first Dutch drivers to take part in Formula One. Flinterman died in Leiden on 26 December 1992.
