Biography
Jan Charouz, born in Prague on 17 July 1987, is a retired Czech racing driver. His father, Antonín Charouz, founded the Charouz Racing System team. In 2006 he won the F3000 International Masters title. In 2009 he drove for Aston Martin Racing alongside Tomáš Enge and Stefan Mücke, and the trio won the Le Mans Series and finished fourth in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Their prototype reached the podium in all five races of that series, including wins at Barcelona and the Nürburgring.
In 2010 Charouz was reserve driver for the Renault Formula One team. He also raced in the World Series by Renault 3.5 for P1 Motorsport and in Auto GP for Charouz Gravity Racing. In November 2011 he took part in the young drivers' test in Abu Dhabi for HRT, completing 56 laps, finishing the day eleventh and securing his Super Licence. It was then announced that he would replace Vitantonio Liuzzi in first practice at the Brazilian Grand Prix. He never started a Formula One World Championship race.
