Biography
Jackie Holmes, born Marion Holmes, came from Indianapolis. In 1949 he drove the six-wheeled Pat Clancy Special at Milwaukee and finished fourth. That same year he took the car to the Indianapolis 500 as a rookie, qualified at 128.087 mph and retired after 65 laps with a drive shaft fault.
The Indianapolis 500 counted towards the Formula One World Championship from 1950 to 1960. Holmes took part in it in 1950 in an Olson and in 1953 in a Kurtis Kraft, which made up his two World Championship races, and he scored no points. He died in 1995.
