Biography
Hideki Noda was born in Osaka on 7 March 1969. He started out in karting and won several national titles between 1982 and 1986. In 1994 he joined Larrousse, replacing Yannick Dalmas for the final three races of the season: the European Grand Prix at Jerez, his home race in Japan and the finale at Adelaide. He failed to finish any of them, with a gearbox failure, an electrical fault and an oil leak ending his races, and he scored no points. In 1995 he was due to drive for Simtek, but the team withdrew before he could race. He was also refused a super licence for a drive with Forti.
He went on to race in Indy Lights in the United States, and later returned to Japan to drive a Toyota Supra in the GT championship, winning a race at Fuji in 1999. In 2002 he took part in six IndyCar Series races, with tenth place at Phoenix as his best result. In the first A1 Grand Prix season he scored points for Japan at Lausitz.
