Helm
Glöckler
Biography
Helm Glöckler, born in Frankfurt am Main in 1909, was a German amateur racing driver. In 1951 he raced a Deutsch-Bonnet in Formula 3 and won the sports car class Alpine Cup in the Austrian Alpine Rally, driving a heavily modified Renault 4CV. In 1953 he won the sports car race at the Eifelrennen in a new Porsche 550.
That same year he was entered in an Equipe Anglaise Cooper for the German Grand Prix. It was his only entry in a World Championship race: his engine failed in qualifying, so he did not take part in the race. He drove a Porsche 550 at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1953 with Hans Herrmann and in 1954 with Richard von Frankenberg. Glöckler died in 1993.
