Biography
Harry Merkel was born in Taucha, Germany, on 10 January 1918 and died on 11 February 1995. The German racing driver was entered in only one Formula One World Championship round, the 1952 German Grand Prix.
He shared one of Willi Krakau's cars, a home-built BMW special. Merkel did not set a time in qualifying and so missed the race, which means he never started a World Championship Grand Prix.
