Biography
Guy Mairesse was born in Warmeriville on 10 August 1910. The Frenchman became interested in motor sport in 1946 through his friendship with the Le Mans driver Paul Vallée. In 1947 he won the Lyon-Charbonnières Rally, and in 1948 he took victory at Chimay in a Delahaye. In 1949 he drove a Talbot-Lago for Vallée's Ecurie France team, finishing fourth at Pau and fifth at Albi. In 1950 he came second at Le Mans, sharing the car with Pierre Meyrat.
Mairesse started three World Championship Grands Prix, all in a Talbot-Lago. He made his debut at the 1950 Italian Grand Prix, where he retired. In 1951 he took part in the Swiss and French Grands Prix, finishing 11 laps down and unclassified in both. He scored no points. He died on 24 April 1954 after a crash in practice for the Coupe de Paris at Montlhéry.
