Biography
George Connor was an American racing driver, born in Rialto in the United States in 1906. His Formula One appearances all came at the Indianapolis 500, which formed part of the World Drivers' Championship from 1950 to 1960. Drivers at that race were therefore recorded in the championship statistics, even if they took part in no other Formula One events.
Connor started in a Lesovsky in 1950 and 1951, and in a Kurtis Kraft in 1952. He started three championship races, finished eighth twice and scored no points. In total he competed in the Indianapolis 500 on 14 occasions without ever leading a lap. When he died in 2001, he was the last surviving driver who had taken part in a Championship car race before the Second World War.
