Biography
François Mazet was born in Paris on 24 February 1943. The Frenchman won the French Formula Three Championship in 1969 driving a Tecno. In 1970 he stepped up to Formula Two with the Sports Motor team, partnering Tim Schenken. He also drove Jo Siffert's Formula Two Chevron on occasions when Siffert could not race it, and competed in touring cars for Ford in Germany.
His link with Siffert led to his only Formula One appearance, the 1971 French Grand Prix at Paul Ricard. Mazet started the race in a March and finished 13th, without scoring any points.
