Biography
Ernest Pieterse was born in Parow, South Africa, on 4 July 1938. In 1962 he won the South African Drivers Championship.
He made his Formula One World Championship debut on 29 December 1962, driving a Lotus. In 1963 he took part in another championship race for Lotus. He was entered again by Lotus in 1965 but did not start. In total he started two World Championship races and scored no points. Pieterse died on 1 November 2017.
