Biography
Eddie Russo was born in Chicago in 1923. In 1950 he won the midget car track championship at Raceway Park in Chicago. He raced in the AAA and USAC Championship Car series in 1952 to 1957 and in 1960. His father, Joe, and his uncle, Paul, also competed in Indy car racing.
The Indianapolis 500 counted towards the Formula One World Drivers' Championship from 1950 to 1960, so Russo is credited with four World Championship starts: in 1955 with a Pawl, and in 1956, 1957 and 1960 with a Kurtis Kraft. His best finish in those races was 22nd place, and he scored no championship points. He died in 2012 at the age of 88.
