Biography
Louis Douglas Serrurier was born on 9 December 1920 in Germiston, South Africa. He was a racing driver who also built his own racing cars.
He was entered for three Formula One World Championship races, all of them the South African Grand Prix. He made his debut on 29 December 1962. He started the race in 1962 and 1963, but in 1965 he was entered and did not start. All three entries were made with an LDS, and he scored no points.
The LDS name came from his initials. The first car was based on a Cooper, while later cars were built on Brabham designs. They were raced mainly by Serrurier himself and by Sam Tingle. He died on 4 June 2006.
