Biography
Teodoro "Dorino" Serafini was born in Pesaro in 1909. He began racing motorcycles in 1928 on a 175cc Benelli. In 1939 he won the 500cc European Championship on a Gilera, taking victories in the German, Swedish and Ulster Grands Prix. In 1947 he moved to car racing and drove single-seaters.
He finished second in the 1950 Mille Miglia. He also took part in several Formula One races outside the World Championship. His only World Championship race was the Italian Grand Prix at Monza on 3 September 1950. Driving for Ferrari, he shared the car with Alberto Ascari. They finished second, the points were split, and Serafini ended the season 13th in the drivers' standings. After the 1951 Mille Miglia he withdrew from full-time racing. In 1954 he returned for the Brescia-Rome-Brescia race, finishing seventh overall and winning the GT class.
