Chanoch
Nissany
Biography
Born in Budapest, the Israeli Chanoch Nissany took up motor racing in 2002, at the age of 38. He finished runner-up in the Hungarian Formula 2000 National Championship in his first season and went on to win the title several times, including in 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2007. From 2003 he also raced in the World Series Lights, and in 2004 he competed in International Formula 3000 as well.
In 2005 he was a test driver for the Minardi team. On 29 July 2005, his 42nd birthday, he drove in the first free practice session at the Hungarian Grand Prix, becoming the first Israeli to take part in a Formula One Grand Prix weekend. That remained his only outing, and Enrico Toccacelo replaced him at the following races. He never took part in a World Championship race. His son Roy Nissany is also a racing driver.
