Bruce
Kessler
Biography
Bruce Kessler was born in Seattle in 1936 and grew up in Beverly Hills. He began racing in Sports Car Club of America events at the age of sixteen. In the late 1950s he drove alongside Chuck Daigh in the Scarab cars built by Lance Reventlow. In 1958 he won his class in the Sebring 12 Hours at the wheel of a Ferrari 250 GT.
His Formula One career amounted to a single entry: he put a Connaught into the 1958 Monaco Grand Prix but failed to qualify, with the 21st-fastest time among 28 entrants. After a serious crash at Pomona in 1959, he retired from racing soon afterwards. He became a film and television director, with episodes of The Monkees, Mission: Impossible and The A-Team among his credits. Kessler died in 2024 at the age of 88.
