Biography

Bruce Johnstone, whose full name was William Bruce Gordon Johnstone, was a South African racing driver born in Durban on 30 January 1937.

He started one Formula One World Championship Grand Prix, on 29 December 1962, driving a BRM, and did not score any points. In the same year he finished fourth in the Oulton Park Gold Cup, a Formula One race that did not count towards the World Championship. He also took part in the South African Formula 1 Championship. Johnstone died on 3 March 2022 at the age of 85.
