Biography
Brian Shawe-Taylor was born in Dublin in 1915 and was a British racing driver. He was racing before the Second World War and won the Nuffield Trophy in 1939. After the war he competed in an ERA.
Both of his Formula One starts came at the British Grand Prix. In 1950 the organisers judged his ERA too old, but he still got into the race by sharing Joe Fry's Maserati 4CL. In 1951 he started with his own ERA and finished eighth, the best of the privateers, six laps behind the winner. That year he also took fifth place at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in an Aston Martin DB2 shared with George Abecassis. A crash at Goodwood later brought his career to an end. He scored no World Championship points.
