Biography
Bayliss Levrett was born in Jacksonville, Florida, in 1914. He began in sprint car racing, mostly on the American west coast. In 1949 he took part in the AAA Championship Car season, where his best result was fourth place at Milwaukee. He also started that year's Indianapolis 500 but retired from the race.
The Indianapolis 500 counted towards the Formula One World Championship from 1950 to 1960. Levrett entered it in 1950 driving an Adams and again did not finish. It was his only World Championship start. In 1952 a heavy crash in practice brought his racing career to an end. He was inducted into the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame in 2007. Levrett died in Reno, Nevada, in 2002 at the age of 88.
