André
Testut
Biography
André Testut was born in Lyon on 13 April 1926 and was a driver and team owner from Monaco. He made his racing debut in September 1956 at the Vuillafans-Echevanne hill climb in France, finishing second in an OSCA MT4. In 1957 he won a sports car event at the same venue, and he took part in the Mille Miglia alongside his compatriot Louis Chiron in a Citroën DS19, finishing 103rd.
In Formula One he entered a Maserati 250F in the Monaco Grand Prix in both 1958 and 1959, but failed to qualify each time, so he never started a championship race. In 1958 he also entered a car for Chiron. At the 1958 Syracuse Grand Prix, a non-championship race, Testut was running seventh with ten laps to go when his engine failed. He died on 24 September 2005.
