Biography
Alan Brown was born in Malton on 20 November 1919. He started racing in a Cooper and later set up the Ecurie Richmond team together with Eric Brandon.
In the Formula One World Championship he was entered in Cooper cars from 1952 to 1954. Of his nine entries, eight led to a start, and in 1954 he did not start a race. He scored two championship points, making him the first driver to score points for Cooper, and he finished 16th in the 1952 standings. He also contested numerous non-Championship races, and the first Vanwall made its race debut with him. After his driving career ended, he ran two drivers at the 1959 British Grand Prix under the name Alan Brown Equipe.
