History

The Las Vegas Street Circuit is a street track around parts of the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, right next to the city of Las Vegas. It runs through the city's streets and down Las Vegas Boulevard, where the major hotels and casinos stand. It was designed by Carsten Tilke, son of the Formula 1 circuit designer Hermann Tilke. Construction began in March 2022, and the circuit opened on 16 November 2023, during the weekend of the first Las Vegas Grand Prix.

The lap is 6.201 km long, runs anti-clockwise and has 17 corners. When the race was announced in March 2022, the track had 14 corners, and a chicane was added later. A left-right section was also altered from the original design. The lap begins on a former car park, where the pit and paddock area was built. That area now contains a permanent part of the circuit.

After a hairpin at the first corner, the cars head along Koval Lane, then sweep round the Sphere arena in a long left-hander and on to Sands Avenue, where two fast bends follow. A slow left-hander leads onto Las Vegas Boulevard. There, a flat-out section of about 1.9 km passes hotels and casinos such as the Flamingo, Paris, Bellagio and Caesars Palace. Three slow corners take the drivers onto Harmon Avenue, and a fast left-hander completes the lap.

The Las Vegas Grand Prix has been part of the Formula 1 World Championship since 2023. Max Verstappen won in 2023 and 2025 for Red Bull, while George Russell won in 2024 for Mercedes. The circuit is also on the 2026 calendar.
